![]() The last 20 years or so have witnessed the era of desktop computing with the dominance of Windows based software solutions including those related to residential property applications. About the time of the new millenium a movement began whereby applications could be delivered reliably and economically via the Internet and this was pioneered by the original version of Aspasia with the method of delivery being known as ASP (Application Service Provider) or more recently SaaS (Software as a Service). It is now generally believed that the future will be dominated by applications based on the cloud computing model and it is this environment that is the framework for Aspasia Cloud. Although the term "cloud computing" is often used to represent different things or variations on a similar theme, the interpretation here is taken in its widest form and is intended to represent the total integration of numerous disparate web based services, often made up from different suppliers, but allowing for a total freedom of choice in the form of software delivery via any Internet connected device. The table below attempts to highlight the key differentiators in these three different computing models and their impact on residential property software. It is not claimed that Aspasia Cloud either is or will be the only exponent of this genre. However, we confidently believe that it is the most advanced and the one with by far the greatest breadth and scope. A major feature of Aspasia Cloud that provides an example of our interpretation of cloud computing is the total integration with Google Apps which gives scope for vast improvements in the areas of communication and the sharing of information. The table below will help to explain how this affects the different types of software and delivery methods in our industry.
